Implants

Losing one or several teeth is a catastrophy for many people. Often, this is interpreted as a consequence of the ageing process and raises functional and aesthetic problems due to the remaining tooth space.

Modern dentistry offers several possibilities to replace a missing tooth.
Besides removable prostheses and bridges, implants are an interesting alternative that, for most of the time, cannot be differentiated from the original tooth. Regarding both appearance and functionality, implants are a much more adequate solution to a missing tooth. Furthermore, an implant, with its crown and artificial root, is the closest solution to a natural tooth. How to get an implant?

An implant consists in a small titanium screw which is placed in the jaw-bone. In some cases, it is necessary to prepare the bone for the implant. Due to the implants special surface, the jaw-bone grows over the implant and anchors it. After a healing phase, we can mount a crown or a prosthesis on the screw. The advantages are quite obvious:

+ implants are the closest solution to real teeth.

+ implants build a stable fundament for prostheses

+ the teeth next to the implant do not have to be drilled

+ Implants can prevent bone resorption.
